Sporting Dogs is a family owned and operated business. This
"business", which we are forced to call it now, due to the fact
that it has evolved into one, was a project that began when
I was attending college. It seemed to happen almost by accident,
11 years ago, when I decided that I needed to have a dog. I
began to research all kinds of dogs, and decided that I wanted
to pursue birddogs. My research told me that the origin of the
German Shorthaired Pointer line was found in the solid liver
colored animal. Therefore, I began to focus my research on this
type of birddog. |

| Over
the course of the next few months, I began to read books and
articles, watch videos and listen to friends who discussed the
subject. I even got advice from my grandfather on how to train
this birddog that I was eventually going to find. My grandfather
was very influential to me during my younger years. I grew up
hunting with his amazing English Pointer named Ike around the
Temple, Texas area. |

After
I had completed all of this research on birddogs, I decided
that it was time to go find "My" birddog. It wasn't too long
before I purchased RIO from a German Shorthaired Pointer breeder
named Leo Fry. I knew that I had found the perfect birddog!
